Mission statement
Our Mission: knowledge for development
AIID’s mission is laid down in its official mission statement: “The Amsterdam Institute for International Development (AIID) aims at a comprehensive understanding of international development, with a special emphasis on the reduction of poverty in developing countries and transition economies. The institute is a multidisciplinary network with a strong focus on policy. Its policy advice is based on long-term fundamental research. The network includes researchers in the fields of biology, earth sciences, economics, law, medicine, political and social sciences”
By striving to accomplish its mission, AIID hopes to be of service to the millions of individuals around the world still living in greater or lesser poverty. It is to the improvement of the conditions of all these people that the work of AIID is dedicated.
