Research Expertise AIID

Our researchers are qualified in a wide range of state-of-the art methodologies. We conduct both quantitative and qualitative studies, including quantitative interviews, focus group discussions, in depth-one-to-one interviews, and observations. We have long term experience in developing large household surveys. Given our long and intense cooperation with the Center for Poverty related Communicable Diseases we can also include medical components to our surveys for example, anthropometrics, blood sugar, hemoglobin, and HIV testing. Characteristic for research is that we provide policy relevant information based on impact evaluations with proper baselines and control groups. Intermediate surveys enable early adaptation in policy design for our clients. Moreover, our experimental researchers test plans in a safe environment before actual implementation, in relatively short time horizon.

We thus provide research that is designed/adapted for every stage of the policy cycle:

Ex-ante/development stage:

  • Target group studies
  • Exploratory studies
  • Assessment of needs and wants
  • Literature studies
  • Baseline-surveys to allow for rigorous ex-post impact evaluation

Implementation stage:

  • Implementation advice and support
  • Monitoring and process evaluation
  • Demand and (customer) satisfaction surveys
  • Experimental studies

Ex-post / evaluation:

  • Rigorous ex-post impact evaluation
  • Cost-Efficiency analysis
  • Assessment and advice for expanding new policy

Our expertise includes: health insurance, health prevention, risk behavior, healthcare demand, healthcare delivery, early child development, water & sanitation as well as good governance and budget support.
