Impact Evaluation and Aid Effectiveness

The Amsterdam Institute for International Development (AIID) aims at rigorous evaluation of policy interventions in developing countries. Typically such interventions take a form which makes an experimental setup infeasible or undesirable. Accordingly, AIID uses a battery of techniques to address impact evaluation questions while at the same time striving at rigorous statistical analysis. In most AIID evaluations locations (e.g. villages) are used as the unit of observation, while survey questionnaires are usually applied at the household level.

AIID is a multidisciplinary research institute run jointly by the UvA and the VU University Amsterdam. The Institute consists of distinguished researchers with outstanding international reputations. The team of core researchers comprises health economists, development economists, medical specialists, political scientists, social scientists and experts in other disciplines.
